Physician Assistant

JoEllyn Dyson, BSN, PA-C, is a Board Certified Physician Assistant who spent the first 18 years of her life in Nigeria, West Africa where her parents were missionaries. In 1977 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carson Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. She immediately began her nursing education and received a B.S.N. Degree from Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas in 1980.

After 16 years as a nurse in cardiac care, cardiothoracic, general and plastic surgery, JoEllyn decided to further her education and graduated from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1996 with a Physician Assistant degree. She spent 10 years as a PA-C in downtown Nashville before settling here at Skin Solutions. Her love of medicine, her surgical experience and her commitment to patients makes her a vital part of our team.

JoEllyn has successfully completed specialized Allergan training and received high marks in earning her Botox and dermal filler certification. JoEllyn has also received specialized one-on-one training with Dr. Pena which, in addition to her extensive surgical experience, gives her with an exceptional ability to meet the needs of cosmetic patients at Pena MD Studio. Walt Sims, MPAS, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant. In 1998 he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies Degree (MPAS) with concentration in Dermatology from the University of Nebraska. Prior to being trained in Dermatology, he worked in emergency medicine with the U.S. Army.

Walt is a Major with the 118th Medical Group, Tennessee Air National Guard who has served a tour of duty in Iraq. As a Physician Assistant who has received specialized training in dermatology, Walt is licensed and qualified to perform a comprehensive dermatological examination, diagnose, treat, and prescribe appropriate medical therapy for your dermatologic needs. He is skilled in performing procedures that include shave biopsies, punch biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy and laser treatments.

Daniel Kachelmyer, PA-C, is a Certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. He graduated from the Oklahoma University Physician Assistant program in 1990 and brings 12 years of concentrated dermatologic experience (including pediatric dermatology). He has practiced with dermatologists in Oklahoma, Washington, and Tennessee. He is now present full time in our Columbia office. Daniel lived in Honduras for several years where his parents ran an orphanage and is fluent in Spanish.

Daniel has extensive experience in treating complicated skin conditions requiring close monitoring and systemic medications. He is proficient in diagnosis of skin cancer including melanoma, and takes great pride in the outcomes of his skin surgeries.
