How To Stay Healthy During the Holidays

It’s officially December! You know what that means: the Christmas decorations will soon be going up in Nashville and we’ll all be digging out turkey and potluck recipes as we swing into the holiday season. (Speaking of which - we’ve got an amazing special on botox for the month! Check it out here.)

As you may have noticed, we’ve been focused on how to stay healthy and happy this winter to help change our food habits and lock in some good ones for 2018! Leading up until the end of the month, we’ll be sharing common temptations of the holiday season - and what you can do to avoid giving in!

Holiday Help #1: Watch the sugar, meat and alcohol intake.

What do these three things have in common? Acidity. The holidays in Nashville bring with it a slew of acid-forming foods, which are a big no-no for your tummy (and your skin!) if you’re ingesting that regularly throughout the month.

Solution: Balance acidic foods with healthy alkaline-forming ones, such as lemons and organic greens. Although the evidence around the benefits of balancing pH in foods is still up in the air, balancing out those cocktails and mince piecs with greens will definitely do you a world of good!

Holiday Help #2: Use social gatherings for just that - socializing.

We tend to eat more in a social setting in Nashville than we would alone, so treat those moments as your time just to be with good company - but not as opportunities to get a dinner in your belly.

Solution: Try pre-eat something filled with protein and vegetables before going out, and you’ll be less likely to pick at unhealthy food and stabilize your blood sugar in the process.
